Olympus was a Japanese optics and camera company founded in 1919, well known for its compact film and digital cameras and its Micro Four Thirds mirrorless OM-D and PEN series. In 2021 Olympus sold its camera and audio business to investment fund JIP, which continues the range under the OM System brand, while Olympus itself now focuses on medical and scientific equipment.
