Sony DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 (A-Mount)

Standard zoom kit lens for Sony Alpha A-mount DSLR cameras.

Key specs:

  • 18-70mm focal length (27-105mm equivalent on APS-C)
  • f/3.5-5.6 variable aperture
  • Sony A-mount (DT = APS-C only)
  • Autofocus

The DT 18-70mm was the original kit lens that shipped with the Sony Alpha A100 back in 2006 - Sony's first DSLR after taking over Minolta's camera division. Covers a useful everyday focal range from wide angle through to short telephoto.

A-mount fits Sony Alpha DSLR and SLT bodies (A100, A200, A300, A350, A580, etc.). The "DT" designation means it's designed for APS-C sensors.

Warranty: 2 Months from purchase

All second-hand film cameras sold at Camera House NZ come with a 2 month warranty when they've been film tested by us.

Our 2 month warranty covers mechanical and electronic failures that occur during normal use. If something goes wrong with your camera during this period, bring it back and we'll sort it out.

This warranty reflects our confidence in the cameras we sell and our commitment to getting you out shooting with reliable equipment. We've been in the photography business since 1953, and we stand behind the gear we sell.

Guarantee: Film Tested

We put a roll of film through each camera to verify that the shutter, film advance, and light meter (where fitted) are working correctly. This real-world testing ensures you're getting a camera that's ready to shoot, not just one that looks good on the shelf.

Minolta built cameras from 1928 to 2006, earning respect as genuine innovators rather than followers. They pioneered autofocus SLRs with the groundbreaking Maxxum/Dynax 7000 in 1985, revolutionizing photography overnight. Their film cameras combined excellent build quality with clever engineering - the X-700 and SRT series remain hugely popular with film shooters today. Known for outstanding optics (their Rokkor lenses are legendary), reliable bodies, and features that actually mattered to photographers. When Minolta merged with Konica and eventually sold to Sony in 2006, their legacy lived on - Sony's A-mount system is built directly on Minolta's foundation, and those old Minolta AF lenses still work perfectly on modern Sony bodies.
