    A specialist piece for large format. Very wide lenses fall off badly towards the corners — physics, not a fault — and a centre filter fixes it: graduated neutral grey, dense in the middle, clear at the rim, so the light evens out across the frame. The difference between a usable transparency and one with dark corners you can't fix later. Rodenstock's are the slimmest of the big three, which matters when you're stacking filters on a 105° lens.
