The AF Nikkor 70-300mm covers everything from short telephoto through to genuine long reach - great for wildlife, sports, portraits, and any subject you can't get close to. On a DX/crop body the effective reach extends even further (roughly 105-450mm equivalent), making it a handy long lens for the money.
Works on film SLRs and Nikon DSLRs alike. Note it's a screw-drive AF lens, so autofocus needs a body with a built-in focus motor (D7xxx/D5xx/D8xx/D3-D5 and most film bodies). On entry-level DSLRs without a motor (D3xxx/D5xxx), it'll still mount and meter but focus manually.
