The Chinon CM-4s is one of those cameras that gets overlooked simply because it isn't a Pentax or a Canon — which is a shame, because it's a genuinely solid manual SLR from the late 1970s. Well built, comfortable in the hand, and straightforward to use. Nothing flashy, but nothing to complain about either.

The real draw here is that f/1.9 lens — practically identical to the standard f/1.8 you see on more famous brands, and Chinon's glass has a warm, smooth rendering that holds up well. Wide open it's pleasing rather than clinical, making it great for available light shooting and portraits with a nice shallow depth of field.

A well-kept secret in the vintage SLR world. Solid camera, great glass, and usually very affordable because the name doesn't carry the premium of the big players.
