    Canon PowerShot A1200

    Canon PowerShot A1200

    Out of stock

Budget digital compact from 2011 with an optical viewfinder - a increasingly rare feature on cameras like this.

    Key specs:

    • 12.1MP CCD sensor
    • 4x optical zoom (28-112mm equivalent)
    • 2.7-inch LCD screen
    • Optical viewfinder
    • 720p HD video
    • Runs on 2x AA batteries

The A1200 is a simple, easy-to-use point-and-shoot with one nice touch you don't often see at this level - a proper optical viewfinder, handy for framing in bright sunlight when the LCD is hard to see, and for saving battery. That CCD sensor also delivers the warm, soft rendering that's become popular for the authentic early-2010s digicam look.

Runs on AA batteries, so there's no proprietary cell to worry about - easy to keep going on the road.

Battery note: We strongly recommend using lithium AA batteries or quality rechargeables with this camera. Digital cameras can drain standard alkaline batteries quickly, and lithium/rechargeable cells provide much better performance and reliability.
