    Classic all-mechanical 35mm SLR from 1971 - a tough, well-built Canon film camera with a versatile zoom.

    Key specs:

    • All-mechanical operation (meter is the only battery-dependent part)
    • Canon FD 35-70mm f/4 zoom lens
    • Canon FD mount
    • Shutter speeds 1–1/1000s + B

Condition: The light meter isn't working. Good news is this doesn't stop you shooting - the FTb is fully mechanical, so the shutter fires correctly at all speeds without the meter. You just set exposure yourself using an external meter, a phone app, or the Sunny 16 rule. Everything else functions as it should.

    Warranty: 2 Months from purchase

All second-hand film cameras sold at Camera House NZ come with a 2 month warranty when they've been film tested by us.

Our 2 month warranty covers mechanical and electronic failures that occur during normal use. If something goes wrong with your camera during this period, bring it back and we'll sort it out.

This warranty reflects our confidence in the cameras we sell and our commitment to getting you out shooting with reliable equipment. We've been in the photography business since 1953, and we stand behind the gear we sell.

    Guarantee: Film Tested

We put a roll of film through each camera to verify that the shutter, film advance, and light meter (where fitted) are working correctly. This real-world testing ensures you're getting a camera that's ready to shoot, not just one that looks good on the shelf.

Canon has been making cameras since 1937 and is now the world's largest camera manufacturer. They dominated the film SLR era with the iconic AE-1 (the first microprocessor-controlled camera) and legendary F-1 professional bodies. Their EF lens mount, introduced in 1987, became the industry standard for autofocus SLRs and carried through to their DSLR dominance. Canon builds everything from budget point-and-shoots to professional workhorses used by photojournalists worldwide. Known for excellent colour science, massive lens selection, and reliable autofocus systems. While their film cameras like the A-1 and AE-1 Program remain popular with film shooters, Canon's real strength is their complete ecosystem - whatever you want to shoot, they've got a body and lens for it.
