Maxell is a Japanese company formed in 1960/61 from the dry battery and magnetic tape divisions of Nitto Electric Industrial, its name short for Maximum Capacity Dry Cell. Maxell has a long history of battery innovation, including Japan's first alkaline and silver oxide batteries, and today makes batteries, chargers and energy storage products sold worldwide.
