Duracell is an American battery brand with roots going back to the 1920s work of scientist Samuel Ruben and manufacturer Philip Mallory, whose partnership produced the world's first mercury battery. Adopting the Duracell name in 1964 and later famous for its copper-top alkaline batteries, Duracell remains one of the world's best known makers of long-lasting batteries for cameras and electronics.
